About

Hugues Landry

I wrote my first lines of code in 1992, on a class project in high school. I've been at it ever since. First as a hobby, then professionally.

I started at Whitehill Technologies (now a Thomson Reuters business), building enterprise legal software, then worked through Deloitte, Thinkmax, Bioscript, and other respected firms, mostly insurance, healthcare, and financial services. Trading tools, Game development and VR on the side.

Recent builds: DreamLair (portfolio build, full-stack), ThoughtDrifter (trading blog with custom animations, pre-launch), trading automations in MT4, and Pine Script indicators.

Preferred stack: .NET for performance and security, lean front-ends in vanilla TypeScript by default. Frameworks only when the project truly calls for one. I leverage AI heavily in the workflow: Claude Code, n8n, and other tools that earn their place.

Remote-first. Audio or video calls, with the option to meet in person. Honest pricing, straight answers, lean software that runs without constant attention.

What I build

Custom web platforms, end to end

Auth, payments, data: the unglamorous parts that make a SaaS actually work. From a blank repo to a live site that pays for itself. Lean front-ends in vanilla TypeScript by default, React or another framework when the project calls for it. .NET or Node back-end depending on the needs.

AI integration into existing systems

Vendor-agnostic by default, since the landscape shifts faster than your business does. Custom workflows, prompt engineering, and eval loops where they earn their place. AI is eager. Without discipline, that eagerness turns into runaway API costs and brittle pipelines that break on the next model release. The work is finding the real bottleneck first, then deciding whether AI is actually the right answer. Often it is. Sometimes the honest call is a plain script and a database, and saying so is part of what you're paying for.

Unity and AR/VR for training simulations and interactive applications, available for the right project.

How I work

Open to different shapes of engagement, from a full build to a smaller piece of work to a second opinion. The right approach is something we figure out together, not something you pick off a menu.

Also available for white-label or subcontract capacity with consulting firms.

First conversation is free. If we're not a fit, I'll say so and point you somewhere better.

Why « White Oak »

Strong, patient, made to last. A tree that stands where it grew, weathers what comes, and deepens with time.

Qualities I try to put into the software I build.
